We have a small farmland about 2000 meters outside the village on which has been cultivated for decades the typical South Tyrolean red wine Vernatsch. Since 2007 we produce our home wine the Michele Wirt Vernatsch, which we have initially bottled as an open red wine on the barrel and then for the last 3 years in the 0.75 bottle. Of course we serve the Michele Wirt Vernatsch to our guests.

2015 was the last vintage of Vernatsch. The plant had to be renewed, since yield as well as the condition of the plant no longer corresponded to the current requirements for a modern wine cultivation.

In May 2016 the two new wine varieties were started. We chose the white wine town - Chardonnay and the red wine town of Blauburgunder. These two varieties are ideal for location and soil.

Aesthetics were also of great importance for the new installation. The wire frame system is attached to domestic chestnut piles.

With the new plant, we have also decided to become partner of the new winery Pföstl.
Stefan Pföstl has been able to fulfill his dream of his own wine cellar with the conversion at the new Schenna Resort. Together with his cellar master Georg Weger, they are taking a new path in winegrowing and we are already looking forward to the great results and tastings :-)

Wine-Winelist

We, the Hölzl family, attach great importance to a well-kept wine culture.
Not only we produce our own wine, but we maintain good contacts with the wine growers and producers in the region, too.
Above all, it’s important to us to offer you South Tyrolean red and white wines, but of course we have also other Italian regions and international wines on our wine list.
More than 25 red and white wines, are offered at the open bar. It’s important to us that every guest can taste the great diversity of varieties and cultivation of South Tyrol and Italy.

Useful information for the South Tyrolean Wine economy
  • Cultivated area: Approx. 5.100 hectares, representing 0,7% of total cultivated area in Italy, and 0,1% of cultivated area in Europe.
  • Production: Approx. 350.000 hl, representing 0,7% of Italy’s total production and 0,2% of European production.
  • 52 % of them are red wines and 48 % are white wines.

We hope you enjoy and ‘cin-cin’!
Your Fam. Hölzl
